DWG to DXF file size
« on: October 24, 2013, 02:04:34 PM »
Can someone explain something to me; please?

I have a Drawing that is 6MBs (Xrefs and its a Plan Sheet.)

I have purged and audited like crazy to get all the stuff out.

Save it; still at 6MBs.

I then DXF out the Plan Sheet (2010 Format).

Open the DXF and Purge Audit

Save it as DWG; now at 1MBs.

Any ideas whats going on?

Did you purge RegApps?

How about export to CAD to get rid of AEC objects?

It's really impossible to tell without the file.

I do not know about the RegApps with Purge.

These dwgs were in Civil3D. So AEC Objects is probably what is doing it then.

-purge (include the dash) gives you the command line version of purge which has an option to purge RegApps.

Could also be annotation scales, and/or maintain visual fidelity settings, and/or rogue Microstation linetypes, and/or anything else that gets dropped in the conversion.
If you are going to fly by the seat of your pants, expect friction burns.

try {GreatPower;}
   catch (notResponsible)

   finally
