xopen in 2014 acad

In mine the xopen command opens the xref fine then locks up. control tab is the only way to get it going.
Anyone else have that?

Also  I cannot put objects on a turned off layer using the layermanager,
only with the properties box

Sorry this is an issue only affected by nextfiberworld=0  which I am sure will not happen to most users
