Dimension Style Updater
« on: June 06, 2013, 01:06:36 PM »
Is there a way to make a dimension style from one drawing match a dimension style from another of the same name?  Sort of like resetting to match a template
Any insight would be appreciated

From the Express Tools, you can use the commands -.DIMEX and -.DIMIM.

I used to use that tool, but now when I try to use it, the imported dimension styles have names that are numbers
Here's an example

I haven't used this tool in years , but the numbers have been there as long as I can remember.

You can open the .DIM file you just created using NotePad.
In the first line and last line is the autogenerated name, change it to the desired dimstyle name.

The numbers are for the dimension styles related to only specific types of dims. E.g. 7 is for leaders. Unfortunately those express tools was never updated when adesk added the sub-category styles.

I haven't make such lisp (or other) yet, but what I've done is to rename the main style in a DWG where the style is incorrect, then copy-paste a dim from a DWG where it is correct and match properties (use something like filter or quick select to select dimensions easier).
Common sense - the curse in disguise. Because if you have it, you have to live with those that don't.
