AutoCAD MEP single line as XREF
« on: May 24, 2012, 02:38:25 PM »
When XREFing a MEP drawing into vanilla AutoCAD,  the draing shows up as single line in a top view but shows up as 3D in any other view.  I've changed the settings in Display Manager to show plan view as 2 line.  That didn't work.  So, I changed plan view to show Model in the display I'm working in.  That didn't work.  One of these two usually works to get MEP drawings to show up in vanilla AutoCAD as 3D in plan view.

Then I copied and pasted from MEP to AutoCAD via the clipboard. Then saved the plain AutoCAD drawing.  That didn't work.

What am I missing here?  As a temporary fix I used AECTOACAD so I could get a 3D xref to show up in AutoCAD.  Any suggestions on what to try next?

BTW,  I HATE the Display Manager in AutoCAD MEP.  There has to be a hundred ways to do it better.

I've b@tched about this issue to Autodesk recently... we had an hour long conference call, and several emails thereafter.

Basically, you'll HAVE to modify the Display View Representations:
