Laptop and separate monitor - different resolutions
« on: August 08, 2012, 08:24:34 am »
I recently got a laptop and have a separate monitor with the display extended onto the monitor.  The problem I'm running into is the resolution.  I can't seem to change them independently and have a useable resolution on the laptop.  It wants to default to 1920 x 1080 which looks great on the monitor, but not so much on the laptop.  Everything is just so tiny!  When I change the laptop's resolution to 1366 x 768, it maintains the same level of tiny-ness but shrinks the display down to 1366 x 768 leaving a big, black border around the laptop monitor.  How do I get rid of the black border??!?  This is getting a little frustrating!

Get used to the 'tiny-ness'  :-D When I first got this laptop with a 17" widescreen, it was set to 1920x1080. I hated it, so I switched it to a number of other resolutions. After a few days of testing, I found I could see more, better, at the recommended 1920x1080. Now that I've had it like this for 20 months I get freaked when i have to use a machine with a lower res....'everything is so BIG'!

I also use a 17" laptop for my work computer.

At the office I have a 24" and a 21" widescreen monitor combo, but at home I only have a 21" widescreen monitor and the 17" display on the laptop which is frustrating.  :x
