C3D2013 UCS Oddity
« on: August 07, 2012, 12:10:42 pm »
I can duplicate this at will... If I have C3D maximized, then after startup I resize the drawing window, the Navcube will flip around and show that I am looking at the Bottom instead of Top. Changing back to Top will change the UCS to an Unnamed UCS.

If I shrink the C3D window, exit C3D, start C3D with a startup drawing (STARTUP=0), the NAVCUBE initially displays correctly, but as the windows resize themselves I can watch the NAVCUBE flip around....see this video

It does this with my DWT and with the OOTB DWT's. With, or without, my add-ins loading. Anyone else seeing this?

Anyone notice that you can NOT set the viewport type as required by Plan Production tools?

I stumbled upon the solution to my strange NAVCUBE display. Turns out that when I have a drawing from a previous version, which has a Coordinate System set, the Geogrphic Location properties get a small rotation and a negative Z factor.  (See image) So I know how to fix this in a drawing, now to find out WHY it's happening and see if I can STOP it from doing so in the first place.

what happens if you insert the old file as a block instead of opening it?

It inserts fine, just as it should.

so it would appear that inserting as a block solves the problem

Well, yes, as long as I don't want to use any of the layouts in the drawing. Or don't mind relabeling drawings which I've inserted that drawing as an xref, or.... So, no, I don't consider it a solution. It's one way to work around an issue that should be corrected.

One can always grab the layouts using Design Center, and 'saving as' resolves the XREF issue

although I agree it is an issue that should be resolved, however as long as the subscription program continues, I don't see it hapening anytime soon. They are too busy getting the next version not ready to ship out the door.
