Cannot create PC3 Kip 7700
« on: June 29, 2012, 11:55:21 AM »
We have a Kip tech here right now and cannot figure this out.

What would cause message box "The system cannot find the path specified"?

Everything works fine until its time to choose the plotter name and keeps showing message box.

I recently had to "Trick" AutoCad into accepting a printer by telling it to use the Windows System printer for an Epson. Maybe worth a try.

IIRC when selecting the Epson printer, it gave an error message saying that it could not create the PC3 file, and then a dialog box popped up showing alternate supported printers, when I selected Windows System printer all was well.

Looking at my other printers I see that they're all set to Windows System... ok, then.

You have installed the printer on the workstation, and sent a test print to it at the end of the wizard right? You also sent a basic text document to it from say Notepad, prior to attmpting install with the add printer/plotter wizard?

My experience with KIP plotters has been that the KIP machine needs to be up and running and installed as a system printer from a shared network resource or setup using Request software and submitting the plotting in batches with that.

One thing I can tell you about my experience is that the internal computer on every plotter I managed always had XP Home. When we plugged the plotter directly into the network, it would not be accessible if we had more than 4 windows computers on the network. There is something about XP Home not being able to be used on a network larger than 5 computers. We had to hide the plotter behind a router so it would connect.

Also, we found that KIP ships separate AutoCAD drivers that must be installed and then they can be accessed though the plotter manager, but the system must be on-line and available via IP address or alternatively the UNC locator.
