64 bit edit and continue - not
« on: June 11, 2012, 05:52:48 PM »
I have an app that has been working fine up until version 2013 64 bit.
The code works in 32 bit 2013 but throws an error in 64 bit. I'm not at my dev computer right now so I don't have the exact error. That wasn't really my question anyway.

I still get the same message that I can't "edit and continue" in 64 bit.
I wanted to know if anyone knew of any new options for edit and continue in 64 bit development.
I thought maybe with 2013, .NET 4.0 and possibly VS 2011 it would have been worked out but evidently not.

I've heard that real programmers don't need "edit and continue" but I do.  :-)

It's amazing what you can do when you don't know what you can't do.

Without EnC I would be about 1/2 as productive.  Do everything that can be done in 32bit so EnC works, then gear down when something in 64bit needs debugging.

Hopefully 64bit EnC will happen in the future.

In Visual Studio (at least the Express edition) you can't edit source and continue if your system is 64b.
The conclusion is justified that the initialization of the development of critical subsystem optimizes the probability of success to the development of the technical behavior over a given period.
