C3D vs Map3D?

AFAIK C3D is a superset of Map3D. That means it can do what map does plus additional stuff. But can it do everything that map can do, and also have the same interface and ribbon, so one doesnt have to install both products into a workstation? Cause i think i rembemr in the past, i have seen map having different exclusive ribbons. Maybe i am wrong though. I also found this topic for 2011 versions saying something about map being better in handling lidar data

You should only install Civil (which contains Map).
If you want Map ribbons, you could trigger the suitable workspace.

Does it fully contain it though, no exceptions? I tried switching through available workspaces, but i think the MAP ribbon was somehow different.

It might be different. Some of my colleagues say that the Map version in Civil3D 2012 is actually the Map 2011 version. But they can't prove it.
In Civil3D 2013 I assume it is the Map 2013 version. Maybe the Ribbon is different but functions should be the same.

The conclusion is justified that the initialization of the development of critical subsystem optimizes the probability of success to the development of the technical behavior over a given period.

There are certain MAP functions not vailable in Civil 3D
There are NO Civil 3D functions in MAP 3D
However most of the 'missing' MAP functions In C3D are replaced by better more powerful functions within C3D's toolset.

Just so i can get better informed, do you have examples of missing map features in civil and their improved replacements?
Also do you know of a way to get the map3d ribbon into civil?

basically there are some survey/cogo/terrain tools in MAP3D that are not in C3D as it has it's own
Change your workspace to Planning and Analysis
or edit the CUI
