Shortcode for 'm2p' ?
« on: January 05, 2012, 09:59:49 AM »
Would it be possible to make a shortcut (one letter) for the snapfunction 'm2p' middle of two points?
I use it a lot and i like simple keyboard strokes.
Thanks anyway.
Hans

Assign it to one of the F* keys or a ctrl+* in the CUI editor.

Why not add it to your PGP file?

Why not add it to your PGP file?

Not sure that would work for transparent commands, I may be wrong however.

AFAIK you can't define osnap overrides in the pgp. They aren't treated the same. I used that to my advantage in this thread.

I had two memories that got crossed... I was just plain wrong.
I think this old topic had something to do with that...

I edit the CUI file and set the '2' key as the designation.
Then simply SHIFT + Right Click, hit 2 and you've got the snap.

Another option is *if* you have any macro programmable keys (found on devices like Logitech G13, etc. ), you can simply add a macro for "_m2p", "_nea", "_end", etc. as needed... then it's a single keystroke also without impacting OSNAPs.

I use M2P hundreds of times in a day, and I don't know about your version of Autocad, but in 2006 a SHIFT+Right Click or CTRL+Right Click brings up this menu, and it's right there. After years, it's still the quickest way for me to get at it.

Like Alan said ... I would assign it to an F key that is not used much  8-) One less click than the Shift right click menu.

That is a lot of extra buttons, how do you keep them all straight?

We start with lining them all up side by side in a grid pattern, then add a back-lit number by which to identify the buttons... Throw in a little user memorization for the macro assigned to each button (by said user)... and walla!

Pretty much...
They also give you a bunch of little rubbery stickers to put on the buttons to help you feel which one you're on.  I'm really liking it so far.  I just have to start doing a lot more CAD work to REALLY get a lot of use out of it.

I made a little numbered print out of the buttons' layout and taped it to my monitor.
