Epson 9600 plotter compared to HP 1050
« on: February 15, 2005, 01:48:08 PM »
My department (geology) is in the process of choosing a new plotter as the 650C we have been using since shortly before the Vikings preceded Columbus :-{) is steadily going downhill. I was wondering if anyone has had experience with the Epson 9600 series compared with the HP 1050C?

One of the geologists seems to feel it would be a much better unit. I am wondering if there are any issues?

Thanks,

I have never used the Epson, but we have 3 1050s.  One of the really nice things about the 1050 is the ink resevoirs.  We dont have to change ink that often with the big containers.  Do you use alot of ink?  I would compare the replacement costs for ink containers.  The HP recommends changing the print heads every other ink change.  We typically do it every 3-4, so I dont know if its really required.
