Ah......... I gripe at people for not reading the text window at startup and then I fail to do it myself...    :roll:
Thanks for the reminder.

So in summary.... purging the groups only, takes it down to 211k, and then purging the regapps takes it to 95k

Purgeable REGAPPs are just strings, so even a few hundred won't bulk up a drawing too much.  A few thousand gets to the point of annoyance.  But its a good idea to pull them anyways, if only to keep them from propagating into other drawings.
If you are going to fly by the seat of your pants, expect friction burns.

try {GreatPower;}
   catch (notResponsible)
      {NextTime(PlanAhead);}
   finally
      {MasterBasics;}

...'Erase'
When it prompts you to select objects type in 'All'
What to do with a used file which has objects?

this would suggest one 'Select ALL' objects one can see.
initiate a move command, and then cancel
Then Erase>>ALL
Remove>> Previous
Hit Enter.

If it's an empty file, what does it matter?  Curious...

But if there isn't anything in the file (graphically), what good is it?  I'm just asking a simple question... don't raise your font with me!

The users is trying to consider the ramifications of using these techniques on a file that may NOT be completely empty.

In the past the erase all has deleted objects that I could see but it was 2012 erasing the 45,000+ empty groups

One of the Engineers we work with a lot has been sending us drawings lately that have 100,000+ regapps in them.  Purging takes files down from 3.5MB to more like 800KB.  The drawings also take a while to open.

I told him about purging regapps, and he was pretty happy.  He didn't know anything about them, and he likes to copy-and-paste between drawings, so he had infested most of his DWG files with hundreds of thousands of regapps in each.  He said, "It seemed like I had a lot of really large files lately..."   :-D
