I do not think I understand but I sometimes use shift + right-click and the letter of snap I want
He is talking about Grid Snap, not Object Snap (OSNAP) modes.

That is correct.

I remember reading that that there is a variable setting for this.  But I will be damm if I can find it.

It's not looking good:

Subtle Snap Enhancement in AutoCAD 2012

If you’re like me, SNAPMODE is one of those tools that you love to hate. Most times I don’t need it because I use Osnaps and direct distance entry to draw accurately. But sometimes being constrained to grid increments can come in handy. A subtle change to Snap behavior in AutoCAD 2012 lets you work more easily with Snaps turned on. Now, it only snaps to grid points when prompting to specify a point. So, for example, when you’re moving the cursor around the drawing area trying to select an object before a command is launched, grid snaps are ignored (no more having the cursor tease you as it jumps back and forth over the object)! But when you’re in a command that requires you to specify a point, such as drawing a line, grid snaps are honored.

Might have been mentioned in the BETA forum as something for the first SP.

No I read the same article that RenderMan posted.  I confused the article with coming from Kate Morrical's blog.  I forgot it was Hedi Hewett's blog

Service Pack 1 corrected the *snap* issue:

Bunches of bug fixes, 2 new Sysvars that some will really appreciate:

ARRAYCLASSIC - Creates copies of objects in a classic array.
SNAPGRIDLEGACY -  0 - Always snap the cursor to grid. 1 - Only snap cursor to grid when AutoCAD prompts to specify a point

I love this command line autocomplete feature in 2012.

There is a command called "ETBUG"  and it does phone home.  :-D

1+

I used up my 30 day trial already, but am anxiously awaiting my new work laptop (being setup by IT now), which is coming with Civil 3D 2012.

Plus Commands in AutoCAD2012

Autodesk has expanded the way commands work by having users type a + in front of the command.  For example, if you type +OPTIONS, you enter an integer.  +SaveAs allows you to save to different file formats in addition to a new file name.

To get the list of all the new + commands, simply type + in the display window and the new Autofill will display all the commands.

As to how useful this is, well, it isn't a minus.
