dimensioning
« on: May 12, 2011, 01:05:48 am »
I create a line in modelspace and dimension it.

When I modify the length of the line, the dimension also gets modified accordingly.

However, I was under the impression that when I delete the line the dimension is also deleted. But, it seems, it does not.

Is this normal behavior or is there any sysvar associated with it.

You describe what is known as an 'Associative Dimension' - the associativity is controlled by the DIMASSOC System Variable.

It is normal behaviour for the dimension to remain, and to my knowledge there isn't a setting or SystemVariable to enable its deletion.
