Moveable Parts of a block
« on: January 24, 2005, 10:20:12 AM »
Is it possible to make a block that has moveable attached parts?

ex.  note with a leader. When i make it a block i can not move leader to point to another object.

can we make it so that i can move the leader to point to another object, while Keeping it a block?

have you read the Help file ? just type GROUP <enter> and hit F1

A group is a named selection set of objects.

but unlike blocks, you can move and add and subtract objects without destroying the group

Chad had a software named BlockExtender, but has removed it from his site, apparently it is buil-in 2006! http://www.objectdcl.com/BlockExtender.html. I am sure if you do a search at caddepot or cadalog etc you still are able to download a copy!

groups don't transfer between drawings, only blocks do.
You could copy then paste as block but you would still need to regroup the objects afterwards.

It woudl be good if there was a group transfer command. There are a couple of times I use groups  and it would be useful. I suppose I shoudl just create something but it's one of those jobs I never seem to get around to doing
