Why must I copy to clipboard?
« on: November 26, 2010, 12:21:14 PM »
Sorry about what will be some very basic questions but this forum looks to be the source of some valuable advice.  I taught myself CAD2006 and enjoy playing around with it for various home projects, concepts, projects, and helping out friends.  I now have access to 2010 and there are some things (well ... alot of things) that are frustrating.  The one that makes no sense to me is when I highlight and right click to copy something, you must go to clipboard (rather than basic mod tools) to copy and paste?  I don't recall this being the case in the older version.    Thanks for your help

Are you trying to copy an object from one place on the drawing to another?  If so, use the COPY command.  I'm not sure if I understand what you're trying to do.

M-dub.  Thanks for the response. To clarify ... copying an objects from one drawing and pasting onto different drawing seems to require clipboard.  Not a big deal .... maybe something I just need to get used to  .... but I don't recall having to do that in earlier program.

There are a few ways to do that.

Instead of regurgitating what's already out there, here are a couple links.

I tend to use COPYBASE (CTRL+Shift+C) and Paste as Block (CTRL+Shift+V) when I'm in that situation.

This might be overkill, but this thread made me think of it :-)
