Searching AutoCAD Topics in LD Help
« on: November 05, 2010, 09:38:12 AM »
When I am in Land Desktop, Help brings up the Land Desktop Help system. While there is a link that will open AutoCAD help, If I activate the Search tab, it does not search in the AutoCAD help topics. How can I activate help in such a way to allow me to search AutoCAD help topics.
I've tried opening various CHM files, but  the search pane often comes up blank, as though it cannot find part of the help system.

there is a drop down that lets you select MAP, Autoecad, or Land desktop

or....create a shortcut to the desired chm file in the HELP folder....

whereas acmap.chm gives me MAP help
the search in STILL defaults to C3D, it sneeks up on oone from time to time

I guess I should have mentioned we are still on LD 2008. When I open the search tab, there is no extra dropdown to select additional products.
What would need to be in a menu item to open a different help file?

It's easy enough to GET TO the Autocad help, as seen in the attached.

Searching it, however, seems to be a different story...  Even browsing to the Help directory and opening the acad172.chm Help file doesn't help...  The Search tab is greyed-out and empty there, with nothing on it at all.  (I only have LDD 2009 on this machine, BTW.)

ok, what are you searching for?  perhaps help from anywhere is better than no help from help

I do not know if this is your problem but for some reason with Autodesk .chm files I have had to go into the help folder right-click on each .chm file and select unblock
