Autocad Architecture in LT
« on: October 19, 2010, 08:42:41 AM »
We run AutoCad Architecture 2011. We are having issues with some 3rd parties who cannot see the 3D elements i.e. walls windows etc.
We are saving back to 2007.
Does LT (2007 I think) have the ability to read the 3D elements? Is there an object enabler for LT?
I will not explode our drawings.
Any help would be ......well helpfull.

Thanks

Try AecToAcad or ExportToAutocad command it explodes all aec objects, but saves it to a new drawing.

Yes I realise that we can do that. Perhaps I did not make my self clear. This third party is causing problems because he can not read our files. I know that we can smash the 3D all the way back to the stone age, but we are not having any problems with anyone else. What I am trying to work out is it defiantly a problem with his software, in that LT 2004 or 7 or what ever he is using is not able to read 3D.

Thanks

I think he will need the correct object enabler and also have his system set to view proxy objects.  Given that LT should be able to view those drawings.  Has he tried opening with DWG TruView?

This falls squarely under the heading of Product Interoperability that many would rather I not mention.
Autodesk needs to do a better job of product interoperability WITHOUT need for any stupid object enablers required.
I've been chanting this mantra for far too long.
