double click on the xref object, the reference edit dialog box will open.
select the xref and click "ok"
you are now prompted to "select nested objects", select the door you want to modify and hit enter. the xref will be greyed out except for the selected door.
select the door and right click to pop up the shortcut menu, select "entity display". in the "entity display" dialog box, select "door" then select "attach override. then select "edit display properties". the "entity properties" dialog box will open. you can change the visability of the swing there.
hit "ok" to exit out of the dialog boxes, then go back to the "reference edit" dialog box and save the changes back to the reference.
