I don't understand why there is a problem with this.

Someone could NEVER use this software to create dwgs for construction or ????

But someone could modify (and wblock out) drawings that are on the network if they only have access to the viewer and they're, I dunno, ticked off that they only have access to the viewer.

As a CAD manager I found this information to be enlightening. As a CAD manager with Engineers who are upset that they only have access to the viewer I now have an answer should something like the above scenario actually happen.

If you're working on a project and your competitor (who is supposed to be working with you on site) "only has the viewer" and access to your submitted drawings, and it's in the best interests of that competitor to see you fail (or look stupid)... knowing that they could modify your drawings with "just the viewer" is a handy bit of information to have.

Sounds outrageous?

It isn't.

I have seen people walk halfway down the street to cross in the middle of the block through traffic, when they could have gone back 10 feet and used the crosswalk.  Likewise, I've had users open Eagle Point terrain models in ProSteel because they couldn't be bothered.  The best way, or even the easiest way, isn't always the path chosen.

I have three engineers here, two of whom HATE having to come to us for "simple" changes.  They find out about this....I'm screwed!  I'll never be able to trust a dwg again......just saying....... :realmad:
