Extension line to centerline
« on: November 12, 2009, 07:25:43 AM »
Has anyone developed a routine to convert a dimension extension line to a center line and still keep the center line associative?

I think Luis Esquivel might have posted something like that a while back.

Thanks Chuck
I look into this and found "Stickto_dims" just no link to the actual routine.
Guess I'll just have to stick to the old method.

Here is Luis's routine.
Why is there never enough time to do it right, but always enough time to do it over?

If I understand what you are asking, you can do this easily via the properties palette in modern versions of ACAD, because DIMENSIONs now have ExtLine1Linetype and ExtLine2Linetype properties, from at least ACAD2008.

If you would prefer to change one extension line type by picking the DIMENSION, you may find the attached file useful.

As noted in the file, the method of determining which extension line to change is simplistic, and may yield "backwards" result under certain circumstances. You are free to improve the selection code, of course.

Thanks for the help guys.

Hermanm had just what I was looking for.Now if I could get the line to change to green, I'll be good to go.
I'll see what I can doo with it.

Thanks again
