I upgraded from 2004 to 2005 about 5 months ago.  Everything went smoothly.

The new migrate feature in 2005 worked like a charm.

You can install 2005 on your computer and still have a working copy of 2004, if you are unsure about upgrading.

Go for it, some of the new tools are worth the upgrade.  :D

I didn't have any problems. I didn't use the migrate feature. I just un-install everything, wipe the registry info from the old version and start anew. Piece of cake. :D

thats good to hear.
how about the printing drivers, common errors, and overall functions of menus. how have these parts of autocad have changed.

from my experience with 2004 i rarely find any errors but when it comes to civil/landesktop there seems to be common "fatal exceptions" and errors which crashes autocad due complex drawings.

I just found it curious that someone would refer to AutoCAD 2005 as Autodesk 2005, it would be like saying Microsoft 6 instead of Visual BASIC 6.

Mark,
What do you use to wipe the registry info?

Regedit
Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk
right click -> export
give it a name and click save
right click again and -> delete
reboot.

Thanks,

Mark's way seem pretty soffisticated for me.
I use a little programme called regcleaner.
RegCleaner find all the registry key associated with a progamme and then
displays them in a list.  You then just highlight the programme you want gone and hit the delete key. Its that simple.

The programme isn't the greatest but it work just fine for me.

I come across a few problems when I switched from 2004 to 2005.

AutoDork changed the plot dialog box and the entire enterface, so plot styles over a network were extremely slow. 2005 sp 1 fixed this.

AutoDork also changed a few of the commands, so some of my lisps and scripts didn't work anymore. I just asked a few friends from the Lisp forums to help out and they now work like a charm.

I think I've come across a few other little things like these, but spent a little time and they work now.

All the new features are great.

I found some issues in the way 2005 recompiled my menu files.

Also, it seemed to have been screwing around with my profiles as I switced between the 3 profiles that I use, 2 regurlarly.

I don't know, we like some of the new features but it still seems buggy to me
