When I'm in a drawing and I use Ctrl+Tab, it doesn't cycle through the drawings that are opened. I have to pick on the screen twice "empty select" so it will work. I know I'm in ACAD, because if I do this and hit escape for any reason, it won't work. It will work as long as I "empty select" and don't hit escape. Has anybody else experienced this or other oddities with 2004?

Yeah, Alt-Tab is great for switching programs.

Yeah, I have the same problem.   I have my wheel for zooming and I have to adjust my zoom in order to get the Ctrl+Tab to work.   I have noticed that I can also pan to get it to work.   It appears to get 'stuck' on the drawing and panning, zooming, empty picks seem to 'un-stick' it.   Piec'a junk !!!   :P

Workaround: just set SDI to 1

I have experienced the exact same thing, I have also noticed at the same time, that sometimes when the ctrl-tab fails to work properly, that the doubleclickedit also fails. I have to either manually switch the drawings the first time, execute a command from a toolbar, or select an empty selection set. Who knows what the problem may be.

That would drive me nutzz!  I may have as many as 4-5 dwgs open at one time, workin' between them all.  If my ctrl-tab went south, I'd be lost.  Is this a 2k4 only thing or has anyone experienced this in earlier 2000+ ?  (We're *thinkin'* of upgrading to 2k4 this spring.  So far, there seems to be more problems with it than benifits.)

In all the year's using AutoCad I have never loaded the new version upon receipt. Thus I have avoided the having to save as a previous version and potentially loosing data not supported by the previous version that my client is using. EVERYTHING I do is sent to another firm for their use, so I am on a different boat than most here. I usually wait 6 months or so, Read Cadlyst, Cadence and haunt sites like this. Then when I do load the new package, I have all of the fixes that have shut ya'll down. Makes the boss think I'm real smart. (Got that sucker fooled, don't I !?)
2004? I can't get my end users off 14. Many are using those cheap Architectural packages that do not support 2000+ (or they are too cheap to buy the upgrade.) The only client that we have that can support 2004 is the Army Corps of Engineers, but they really prefer Anygraph.

Forgive me if this was mentioned, but has anybody thought of using a third party app to switch between open dwgs, I use Doc bar, it works great and it's free,  :D I've used for about 3 versions now and have found it to very useful. :P  I'm a Button man, I've moved away from primary keyboard input, unless I have no choice, for me it's all in the mouse, even my intellimouse is set up to Esc on the Left thumb button and to open properties on the Right Thumb button.

A Little off topic but for anyone who interested, but as I was broswing some cad sites I found a nifty toolbar menu customization routine that will allow you too make a "Pop" up tool bar and once a button on it is picked the tool bar will dissapear and the command will intiate. Just thought is was neat since screen real estate is pretty tight some times.  8)

Thanks Pochrist. I have tried docbar, but have found that it likes to crash systems at times. I was thinking about Keith's double click problem associated with this topic and they seem very related in that it seems that something in the program pulls the focus away from autocad, similar to a button on a form that would have or not have focus. Well, with that in mind I'll be off to bother the adesk site and see if I can't drum up some info out of them.
