Autodesk 64bit products?
« on: June 12, 2009, 01:28:59 PM »
Since i just built my first x64 system i wonder if x64 version of autodesk products make any difference in comparison to the x86 versions. Are there any performance improvents and such?

Also i would like to know if version of the existing products are available on x64.

AutoCad Vanilla 2008/2009
AutoDesk LDD 2009
Autodesk Civil 3D 2010.

For Autocad 2008/2009 there surely must be available unless i'm greatly mistaken, but iread that LDD 2009 wasnt released on x64 version and i still dont know about C3D 2010. The Trial i downloaded a month back only had a x86 version.

LDD will most likely never come in a x64 flavor. Civil 3D 2010 does not have a x64 version, but it is able to install easily and run on a x64 machine.

Whys is it that there's no x64 C3D? I have installed the trial on my x64 system so yes it can install. Can the LDD x86 install as well on a x64 system, cause I havent tried this one yet on my new system.

So what about my basic question. What's the significance of the x64 version? Are they optimized in any way?

Moreover, Is there reason for x64 versions to even exist?

I think the main roadblock is the continued reliance on MS Access for the data base functions.  It is my understanding that there will be no 64 bit Access and therefore no 64 bit Civil 3D until Access is replaced and I have heard no rumors of that happening soon.
