Inventor 2009 Frame Generator Question.
« on: January 19, 2009, 09:59:59 AM »
Hi all.

After approx. 16 weeks using IV 2009 Pro, I've gotten quite good with it and am now able to create Assemblies and I've even done a bit of animation.

I was wondering whether one of you fine chaps might be able to help me with a problem that (so far) the Autodesk forums have been unable to assist me with: -

I've hit upon a new problem. As the link below shows, when I use the Miter tool, the slots disappear. could this be related to the way I created them?

And how do I fix it?

Or do I need to create the sketches with the trimming/cutting in mind?

Cheers in advance...

You might want to forward this on to Elise Moss of Moss Designs, she is a proponent, and instructor of Inventor.  And your challenge might even find it's way into her weekly newsletter.

Or, might you miter those angles, and then add the slots?

I could do that, but I was under the impression that the Frame Generator would allow me to create a custom profile for extrusion, and within that profile have the slots as shown. But then I might have been wrong....  :x

Well it may be that you still can, if you change the order of operation.  I don't even have the application to test this crazy idea on.... however it is from autodesk, now isn't it?
