Editing Excel in AutoCad drawing
« on: January 07, 2009, 05:19:44 PM »
Since Excel text can be copied into an AutoCAD drawing there should be some way to edit the excel text.
Am I right, and if so, how?

Depends on if you are using Data Link, AutoCAD Tables, Project files Search Path, or OLE.
OLE Linking is the easiest but has become a bit of a bottle neck lately too
because of UNC and prompting that doesnt seem to shut off even when the variables are forced during all file openings.

What I have is a drawing from a client with an Excel column of text attached and I would like to make some changes, i.e. font styles, text editing, etc.

Hmm ok,
I'm not used to finding one without the excel file opening in Excel when I double click it.
Is this a table style setting instead?

Not that I am aware of.  All I have is a drawing with an Excel table attached.

Can you post the drawing so I can see it?
What version of AutoCAD & MS Office do you have?

Thanks one and all for you help, I have found a solution to my problem, I'll retype the text.  I am using AutoCAD R2002 and Excell 2007.

Not sure about ACAD 2002 and its portability with Office 2007.
Could be the reason you have to retype instead of select.

But I wondered if you had the option to set OLE applications in options?
