Designjet 800PS AutoCAD 2009
« on: January 04, 2009, 11:13:57 PM »
I've been using a Designjet 500 for years at work with No problems. Now I'm looking at picking up a used 800ps for use at home and I'm a little worried with the postscript part. I've never used a PS plotter with Autocad, or with anything for that matter, are there any problems? I'm more interested in the 800 over the 500 because of the higher print resolution and the PS part for printing large pictures.

Will the 800PS perform as carefree with AutoCAD as the 500? Is the extra print resolution worth the risk? The 500 is 1200x1200, the 800 is 2400x1200.

I cannot compare to the 500, but I have used a 42" 800 PS for the last few years with no real trouble. Generally very happy with it - I just wish it were faster :)

We've had the 800 for about 6 years and love it. It is used a lot and has just a few problems in those 6 years, the biggest being that the drive belt self-destructed so I ordered one from HP. Took an hour to replace, it even came with directions, and is as good as new.

But, as Cary said, it would be nice if it were faster.

That happen to our 700 too. Very easy change.

The only reason we got the 1050c was becuase of the deal with the extra benefit of color when needed and the 36" roll width.
