Steel hole/slot db...anyone have?
« on: January 09, 2009, 04:08:15 PM »
Hello,

I was thinking of creating a db for holes/slots in steel plate... i.e.

Hole - Standard Diameter
Hole - Oversize Diameter
Slot - Short Slot
Slot - Long Slot

I have table J3.3 from AISC Spec. for Structural Steel Buildings. The holes are easy enough. The slots would be time consuming to build the lookup table. I could use vis states and tables, but just gets messy.

Anyone already have a db for holes/slots?

Thanks in advance.

I made a DB once that was a reference bubble.  In it's native state it looked like a circle but when the text got too long the circle would stretch out to look like a slot.  I accomplished this by not making a circle but instead making 2 half circles and join them with a line segment 1/256" long.  This allowed me to stretch one end to make the slot or leave it as a circle.  It worked pretty cool.

Thought this might give you some ideas on the slot.
