How to chain a Linear Array to a Linear Stretch
« on: December 03, 2008, 02:33:57 PM »
Hey guys,

I've been developing some dynamic blocks here and need some help. I am working on a case that has keystripping inside. This case has three different heights so I am trying to have the keystripping array as the case is stretched but I cannot get it to work. The only way I've been able to get it to work is by having 2 grips, one for the stretch and another for the array. Can someone help me figure this out because it's driving me nuts over here. Thanks

Stretch your STRETCH ACTION so that it is somewhere between the DISTANCE PARAMETER, then add the DISTANCE PARAMETER and ARRAY ACTION to the STRETCH ACTION's selection set.  Then close the block editor.  You may have to run the RESETBLOCK command to see the changes.

Can't get it to work Matt. I tried to make sense of what you said but couldn't really. When you said to move the STRETCH ACTION between the distance parameter you confused me because it looks like you have everything located where I do. Can you perhaps explains this a little better?

The first image shows YOUR stretch action dotted line; the second one is mine.  Note the location of the dotted lines in both images.  See how mine is between the distance param while yours is above?  Also, the other thing I did that I forgot to mention was to turn off the other arrow for the distance.

Ah ok I see the light now. Let me try to apply this to a few blocks and I'll confirm that I got it. Thanks very much

Dan

May I ask what that is a block of?  Looks like a cabinet of sorts?
