One hand on the mouse, one on the keyboard, and one on a Dr Pepper... command line.

probably a good mix of all the above, depending on the command
Thanks for explaining the word "many" to me, it means a lot.

I edited the poll to allow for multiple selections.  You might get a better result that way...

A bullet to the head.

command line actually.

M-dub, not sure I understand the editing of the poll.  Seems to me like while I'm sure everyone uses multiple techniques, they can only use one the most.  15 yards for flagrant abuse of moderation.  The penalty will be assessed on the kick off.

*Throws flag*
Then what is the last option in there for?

I was using my 'powers' with good intentions.  If the OP wishes, I will change it back.

Maybe, just maybe, to give people the option of that response without having to select each choice individually.

What did you throw a flag for?

PM sent to OP

Flag was thrown to argue your call.  Not a huge football fan.  Maybe that wasn't an arguable call.

Yep
So anyways... Back on track maybe?

My commands come mostly from the command line, a couple toolbars, pulldowns and a few shortcut keys.

Sounds interesting, part of the CAD package you're using?

I'd like to see some AutoCad coding for something like that (not sure it's possible).

An option.  It can be buggy. But when it works it is a huge time saver.  Makes people look at me funnier.

Yeah, Birdy's right.

No matter how I enter my commands, 90 percent of them are followed with repeated hits on the escape key.

You should have the command entry choice: "Usually by error"

Oh, you must be talking about the shiny key up in the top left corner of the keyboard with the label worn off.   :-)

i didn't see the option for 'right-click'

but i suppose, or i'm guessing that has to do with my custom menu?

i right-click for my most commonly used commands... otherwise, I use aliases or toolbars.

I checked toolbars, digitizer (Nostromo N52) and command line, in that order.  The first two together would cover about 80% of my command execution though, with command line entry about 20%. I pretty much spend my day with mouse in right hand and N52 in left....naturally with breaks for donuts, tea, cookies, Dr. Pepper and chips.....naturally.

Probably 45% custom toolbars, 35% command line/aliases, and 20% customized menus.
I never use palettes (though I know I probably should). Haven't used a digitizer in I-don't-know-how-many-years.

Right hand's always on the mouse, while the left hand's at the keyboard. The hands just flyyyyyyyy on auto-pilot. In order to answer this poll/thread, I had to make a point of slowing way down and really paying attention.

And it was an excrutiating process, for the record.   :x   Really wasn't planning on thinking today. Sheesh.

Command line, and my customized middle mouse button menu.
is that with mbuttonpan set to 1 or 0.  when it's set to 0, I would like to know how to override the default osnap menu that appears, as you get the same menu with a shift-right-click

mbuttonpan = 0

And I load this in my mnl file, probable don't need it there, but it works so why stop it.
(menucmd "A1=custom2.AUX1")

And then the definition for ' AUX1 ' that is in my .mns file.
***AUX1

Mainly on the keyboard but I find the quickest way to insert blocks is by custom pull-down menu.

I couldn't live without my Steel Sections menu.

(BTW if anybody wants a copy, drop me a line. Be aware - British Standard Steel sections only, i.e. UC,UB,RSA,RSC,PFC,RSJ)

Defintely keyboard entry....like to have my screen clear of interruptions....i do have my pipework blocks open in explorer and drag n drop into the drawing as i need....

FWIW - I have noticed that people who have recently learnt cad really dont know what the commands are behind the toolbars, and most tend to throw the toys outta the pram if/when they mess up their profile.....
Having learnt on R11 dos you had to know the commands as the old school screen menu took an eternity to find your command.....Is it mainly the 'old schoolers' use the keyboard entry....
I thought i seen the light at the end of the tunnel. But it was just someone with a torch bringing me more work.

I've been a cad monkey for more than 18 years, but I'm likely to be upset if my profile gets messed up too... I have things like my custom tool palettes, and custom toolbars set up just how I like them... and the properties, xrefs and layer palettes set up for quick access (for me). For some commands I wouldnt dream of doing anything but keyboard entry, but for others, I like the convenience of my nicely arranged second monitor :)
Thanks for explaining the word "many" to me, it means a lot.

Good morning

By OP, I assume you mean the person who created the poll?  If so, I'm here, simply monitoring the results and comments.

Thanks for the concern :-)

A mix, command line, some drop down menus.

Most depend on what I'm doin' at the time.  8-)
