Add materials to style
« on: August 25, 2008, 02:01:37 PM »
I've got a bunch of materials that show up in the Materials palette that DON'T show up in the drop-down for wall/door/window/slab styles.  How do I go about getting all of the materials to show up in the drop-down?

I think once you actually apply any of the materials from the palette to the objects, they then show up in the drop down.
It's been a while since I did this in ADT. Simply being on that palette does not a part of the style make.
It is alluded to here:http://www.archidigm.com/Coverpage/cover3-07/lounge-set_list_defs.htm

Same thing happens in C3D in a different manner.

This is the official autodesk instruction from the KB:

Issue

You are using materials with your object and you want to see them in the object's extended data.

Solution

To see used materials in an object's extended data, you have to add a new definition for each component.

On the Format menu, click Style Manager.
In the Style Manager, under Documentation Objects, find the Property Set Definitions.
Select the Property Set Definitions.
Click the Definitions tab.
On the Definitions tab, click Add Material Property Definition.
In the Material Property Definition window, you need to enter a name, such as Frame, and select one of the components.
If at least one window has a Windows schedule tag, the materials will now be displayed in the Property Palette on the Extended Data tab.

Note: If the extended data is still grayed out, click Add property on the Extended Data tab in the Properties Palette. If the Add property button is also gray, you will need to set one tag to the object to activate the button. Then you will be able to schedule this data out.
