When plotting, Is there a way to make solid hatching semi transparent so that an image beneath is visible?

use 95% screen, or 5% whichever gives a lighter fill

All that does is lessen the intensity of the color...doesn't make it transparent.

Me thinks you will want to turn those hatch areas OFF that you want to not plot before you do (plot) and then they will be transparent.

could you use a dot hatch and just set it to a high count for a hatch scale?
i'm sure i'm just being retarded, but anything is better than nothing.

Yep,  Dot hatch is your best option.

Solid can't be transparent like in ArcGIS 9

I use solid hatching with shading applied and send it to the back using display order.

I think if you edit your PC3 and set the line merging under graphics to merge instead of overwrite, it will do it.  Not 100% sure that's true with jamaican pictures but give it a shot.
