Lat/Longs on Alignments
« on: March 04, 2008, 05:22:04 PM »
Is it possible to label Lat/Longs on Alignments?  We want to label the PC PT curve points with Easting, Northing, Lat, Long, Station.  In C3D (2008), I can't figure out how to add Lat/Long to my label.

I can label a point with E/N and Lat/Long, but I can't figure out how to put a station value on a point.

Yes,

Set up an Alignment label style that uses REFERENCE text, the reference object will be COGO Point.
Set that data to import the LAT and LONG. You will need to set a point on your alignment geometry for the reference text to work properly.

Note: modified to add the label style should be created under the alignment label collection.

Michael,
This is working great, but I am just curious....I am unable to do this the other way round?  c3d does not allow you to put reference text on a point?

Does anyone know if this has changed in 2010?  Do I still have to create a point to label lat/longs?  We're still using 2008, but this might be a good reason to upgrade.

Well, Mike, you either need a new head or new eightball :-)

Here's a screen grab showing this text in a Note label

THAT particular text is NOT what the user is after.

The user wants Lat Longs as part of an ALIGNMENT Label, not a not label, we could do that with 2008/2009.

Thanks for playing!

 oops! My apologies...completely misread that.

However, how did you get a Note label to show Lat/Lon (or E/N) in 2008/2009? Reference Text doesn't count....that's the whole reason I had thought Cathy was asking this. After reading the original messages I now understand.

Sorry again.

Well Jeff, you just can't get those items WITHOUT reference text in those versions. (thank you autodesk)

Not to worry; the Devil is in the Details as they say....
