Happy New Learning!
« on: January 02, 2008, 10:30:06 AM »
Well folks we made it through to 2008!

What a list list I have of things I want to share that I learned just last week; let alone last year.

Along with the holidays the last few days have been a review and repair sessions with my friend C3D.
Over the last couple of months I hadn't had time to go back through some of the unique situations, or student questions as deeply as I would like.  So I lit a glowing fire and dug in.  Along the way I saw this article :http://discussion.autodesk.com/adskcsp/thread.jspa?threadID=632776 and thought that it should be interesting to investigate.  In the end it turned out to be rather educational.  I find it interesting that some 'partner' is there trying to sell a solution, while a combination of the method I used, with or without offset and alignments as suggested in another post is totally viable.  I spent a couple of hours trying to force the retaining wall to behave against it's nature.  The resultant of linking the final design corridor to this 'target generating' corridor leads to a fairly easy way to fine tune the vertical using the simpler assembly on the bottom to work out the modeling that will later be done with the top most assembly. This yielded fast and predictable design changes, includng allowing individual tiers of walls to have offset alignments and profiles such as to include landscape terraces as shown in the upper right image.
Be your Best

Thanks Michael!  Your insight into C3D, and the knowledge you provide are greatly appreciated!  Happy new year to you!
