In options, can you not change it to final?  I found that by accident one day

I changed it to release. Tried it, still makes debug. I saved it and closed. Went back in and it shows debug again. I closed it, opened it with notepad++ and changed it to release there. Went back into VS, still showed debug. Checked in notepad++ again, it said release. They have it hard coded to only make the debug version on the Not For Resale edition.

Also, I can not open projects from any network drives. They have to be on the local machine.

Have you tried downloading VS2008 Express and compiling your project with it?

not yet. Once I get the program finished, I will worry about compiling.
