My understanding is that it wasn't fully original, being based / derivative of existing open source imagery. So while legit, desiring greater uniqueness.

However, I'm drawing from rather flaky RAM so I could be wrong.

If you wish, yes I can submit it for you. But you should know how easy it is to register to the forum.
You don't need to be an active member to help design the new logo, it's open to the public, but knowledge of the software would probably be helpful.

MP is correct, the current logo was derived from some already existing logo\icon web sites, making it not very original.
