Don't lay all of the expense of network upgrades at the feet of C3D. Network upgrades are a fact of life and a cost of doing business. If you don't have a network upgrade planned you're not keeping up.

Yep, we recently upgraded to T1 lines to both offices, with a VOIP phone system that links both offices.  Our satellite office is moving into a new office in a few months, and at that time we'll probably look at getting it a real server.  So we're growing, but this stuff doesn't happen overnight.

And we are very disappointed that we need to make so many things happen just to get PM in C3D.  It probably wouldn't be as big a problem if we were a smaller shop with only one office and just  a few users, or a bigger shop with more resources.  But we seem to be in the sweet spot where it's the most painful...   :?

Net result is we still haven't been able to adopt Vault, and do not know when/if we ever will, despite our desire for PM...

Crap sinc I don't think anybody is in the Sweet Spot anymore.
I'm pretty sure we aren't.
The bigger you get the more complicated it becomes.
But WTF if it was easy the girl scouts would have a merit badge for it. :-D

I find it interesting that it took you a few days to come up with a reply to this, in a manner that tries to diminish the problems caused by implementing vault.

Fact is, it isn't the tool we need, and fails to function as such.
Be your Best

Don't read into the delay anything except I don't check in very often.
I didn't like Vault from the start.
I was forced to use it and discovered that it did offer some advantages.
Do the positives outweigh the negatives?
Depends on the situation. There are times when it is very useful.
In a perfect world, it sucks but it's there and I need to deal with it.
The main drawback to Vault is the disk space required.
Saw a flyer today that 1T hard drives are 400 bucks.
At the current state of product development Vault should be considered.
