Default Drawing On Autocad Startup
« on: October 11, 2007, 08:18:54 AM »
I everybody

Everytime I start Autocad, a drawing opens with it.  It is a drawing that I have been not been working on for at least a month now.  If I delete or rename the drawing, Autocad starts normally, without any error messages. The problem is, that the drawing is xrefed into other drawings and I can't deleted or renamed it.

Any suggestions on how to set Autocad so that no drawing opens when I start Autocad?

Startup=1

I have turned of the startup dialog the day that Autocad was installed. And it have always been like that for years now without any drawing opening when I start Autocad.

I actually don't know how you got it to open an existing drawing at all.

Typically, Autocad creates a new drawing during startup, unless you have STARTUP=1.  The new drawing is created from your QuickNew template, as specified in options.  If you have no QNEW template specified, Autocad creates a new "empty" drawing, using no template.

I didn't even know it was possible to get Autocad to open a specific drawing at startup.

On your desktop, rt-click on the icon you use to open Autocad; Properties. Is the drawing name specified in the Target box?

Find Target is set to : "C:\Program Files\AutoCAD 2006\acad.exe"

I know that you can set profiles and other options with that.

Take a look at http://www.hyperpics.com/downloads/resources/customization/general/AutoCAD%20Icon%20Switch.pdf

Another thing: What software are some of the guys using to do a screen capture in animated gif format? And is it freeware?

What version are you running?

peep the following:
