paste, & pasteclip problem
« on: August 15, 2007, 04:06:33 AM »
I have a Technician here copy and pasting items from one drawing to another.  he can paste the items into some drawings, no problem there, however (there is always a however)  some of the drawings when he selects paste, or pasteclip etc nothing happens.  the original information varies (he is basically adding standard details to various drawings) but he may have 6 or seven different details.  One detail will paste fine into a drawing, but another will not paste into the same drawing.  Any ideas.  We are using AutoCAD2002. (gasp)

Any information would be greatly appreciated

Signing off from 2002

Is the drawing a 2007 drawing saved down, if so it's a known issue.

There is a 2007 hotfix to fix the copy and paste issue, speak to the drawing originator.

tried that, tried auditing, as well, no change.  all of the objects that are brought in are "dumb" AutoCAD entities. (line, Circles etc)

mmmmmm

thanks for the input though

Another idea, though it may be a stretch...

Is it possible that the ones that are not pasting, are in fact pasting out in 'never-never' land due to a different 'copybase' point?

Just an idea, it has happened here before.

If the originating drawing geometry was created in a vertical AutoCAD application (LDD, ADT, etc) even if the objects are "dumbed down", copy/paste will fail most of the time. The drawing objects, even though they are simply geometry, many times have persistent reactors attached. During the copy/paste, the mechanism AutoCAD uses to create the pasted contents will fail due to the fact the creating application for the reactor is not present.

This is one of those types of drawings that I find I must strip all of the xdata from the geometry just so I can use it.
