I think you're trying to say you cannot detach nested xrefs...

It appears that is the problem.  But only with this model.  We have several other models with 150# 300# , or 450#_steam  and they all xref in and out.  I have asked that everyone not use these symbols in the past for files names but it seems that once again we are straying from our standards.  Trying to resolve this found many more problems with layers, page setups and dwt files not being used correctly.

it never a good idea to use "wildcard" symbols in the name of anything
