3D Solids, Edges and Faces editing
« on: April 24, 2007, 11:58:56 AM »
Does anyone know how to edit an edge or face of a solid object.  In '06 you can render by color, so I set all the faces to colors, then matched those colors to materials.  Now when I render it comes out right.  But in '08 I don't see how to do this, apply material to specific colors.  In '08 you can apply materials to the faces itself, which is nice, but it means all the work I did I would have to redo.  So  I'm looking for a way to select the solid, step through it and edit it's faces/edges.

Any help is appreciated, Thanks.

I was hoping more for a coding way.  I want to select the solid, then change all items (edges/faces) that meet certain criteria to something else, so every edge/face that is color 56 would apply the material 'dark paint'.  I did it the 'solidedit' way first, to time consuming.

I'm sure it's possible to grab the dxf code, and modify it, but I don't know as to what level you would need to go, off hand.

I don't think you can get it from the dxf code.  The help files says this data is proprietary.  Attached is what the dxf code gives me.

Unless I'm missing something which I hope I am.

There were some functions outside to convert that data to something readable... I think it was on Reni Urban (old site)
