Slide.ocx on Vista
« on: April 18, 2007, 05:45:54 AM »
Can anybody confirm whether or not v3.1.0.1 of Slide.ocx will work on Vista or not? If it won't, is there a compatable version available?

Why don't you just register the OCX and give it a whirl?!?

I did try and got the following message:

The module "c:\support\slide.ocx" was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with the error code 0x80040200

I don't know if this is due to the ocx not being compatible or whether it is due to the registration process in Vista - it seems you need to allow implicit permission to do absolutely anything with security dialogs poppping up if you simply want to rename a shortcut

If anybody has used it and it works then I'll know to keep plugging away at it.

Sorted it.

I had to register the ocx from the command window after launching it using the 'Run as administrator' option. Not sure why I need to do this on an account with admin rights but at least I know it works.  :-)
