(Microstation) "flatten my drawing"
« on: April 16, 2007, 06:32:17 AM »
Hi ladies and gents

I have a Microstation drawing that has many different z heights (not true 3d entities) I need to flatten the drawing so everything is at a z=0.

Any suggestions as to the best way to do this please

Many thanks
Tracey
Thanks for explaining the word "many" to me, it means a lot.

Export to 2D in Microstation.

It is a pity, but I do not know this program...
But I can advise. Try to knock a ceiling.
Select all = objects> lift on height 1е99. => omit all on height 0.

I've only had to do this a couple of times, but I'd go with CADaver's suggestion of exporting it to a 2D. It's always worked for me.....good luck, Jonesy!

As far as I can see with Cadavers suggestion, is that it turns the file to a 2D file. The file has to stay as a 3D file, but with all unknown z heights as 0 (currently some zs are -14000 and more, and theres no way a train line will be that steep ;-) )
Thanks for the suggestions
I'll have to keep searching :-(

Did you check out that utility (to set objects to a common z value) at Askinga.com?
It's free :-)

V8 (with the added complication of projectwise which controls all our drawing files)
