Topic: Attach point number and description to a point

Does anyone know of a way to attach a number as well as a description to a point to later export it to a text file. I can do this with attributes but I would like it if I could get it so the next time I open the drawing and create a point it knows what the next available number is. Is this possible or should I just do a manual input of the first point number as well as the descriptions?
