I've been working on mine as well...

I'm doing mine up in sketchup.

Hey Josh...is that a handicap access elevator in your office?

shoot no... if an ADA inspector came in here they'd poop.  I'll render a different perspective next time, the floor raises about 14 inches right there... there's 3 steps

I think he means that you like to ride elevators!   Either that or you're crippled.  I dunno.   :?

2004, that was my new year letter :

http://perso.orange.fr/ABCAD/PUBLI/Voeux2004suite.htm

Acad + Photoshop.

In that image, you can find the (famous) Lisp tree, the bridge I was working at (left wall) and many GDL objects that I put pleased to the GDL adaptor for AutoCAD.

I also used the Penguin rendering engine to isolate easely areas in Photoshop.

Follow the first link, and then this one :
http://perso.orange.fr/ABCAD/PUBLI/historique.htm

You'll see how I worked it.

PS : the 2 monitors are available on cad3000.it
PPS : I use to live in that flat in Strasbourg city center and it was my office at the same time. The truth is that it was much more messy ! Andthat the mountains are a little more far away from the city center !

Hey that's pretty cool!

Very impressive... you have a great style there.

I find one of the biggest challenges that I come upon is making everything in the scene "fit" with eachother.  I seem to always have one object seeming realistic looking... another will look like a cartoon too much, and yet another will look good but just of a different style.  I've been trying to work on keeping things of the same style, whether it's a watercolored look, a realistic scene, or if it's all sketchy looking... I find that the images are more impressive if everything looks like it belongs there, rather than if you try your best to make it photorealistic.

Anyways... what I'm getting at is that all the objects in your rendering have a great singular 'look' to them.  Bright, vibrant, saturated, and a little whimsical touch as well... it's great!

How much time did it take you to complete that?

You got me started on a big project over here.  I'm going to model the entire office (both floors).

I started this in ABS 2007, but I might switch over to Revit so I can get my feet wet!!

sweet!  love to see the progress... at least you already have a floor plan to start with!  I had to get the measuring tape out for my walls.  Of course if you didn't already have a floor plan, I'm sure you wouldn't be taking the time to do the whole office ;)

btw, Revit is pretty easy... I started the trial of Revit Building, and man... go through the little "Getting Started" tutorial book.. it's easy as all get out... it's great.  When this trial is up, I'm gonna switch to Revit Structure's trial.

Josh your OFFICE4-SMALL.PNG is really nice. The plans on the table are a nice touch too.

Here's a dry-run of a mechanical room that I'm currently working on.
Some of the pipes still need to be connected and the materials/lighting need a little TLC (as indicated by the little red pipe).

That's impressive Matt. You guys make me jealous! :-)

Check out this one.  The image is a little bit large, but this way you can really see all of the detail.

Matt, isn't the value of FACETRES of your scene too low ?

Josh, thanks. It took me a few hours I guess but not only inside Acad. As I explain in my (linked) webpage, I used Photoshop. The real secret is the use of Penguin for "non-realistic" rendering. It was a long time ago, the current version was 2004.
For the lights, I just put a few of them and made a fast rendering with no more objects on the scene than the chair, the table and the wall.

I'm not a specialist and I consider that work as a funny task.

If you want to see good renderings of my work under Acad 2000 (but rendered by a specialist under 3DSMax), check this out ! You are not dreaming, it is an Autodesk page ! You have to know that I'm a celebrity in France
