(Microstation) Saved views problem
« on: November 01, 2007, 07:51:29 AM »
or is this normal behaviour..

Does anyone here use saved views?

The drawings I am currently are setup so there is a model (or default) view where the work is done, and various saved views are created, and then "self-referenced" into the drawing sheet view.

We seem to be having a problem with dimensions in saved views. If we add a "place note" or any dimension in the default view, it does not show in the "paperspace"/referenced view. All other changes will show and update. Is there a setting that will allow the dimensions to be updated like the regular objects. I am currently pulling my hair out with this, as there are many drawings, with many saved views on this job :(

Many thanks in advance
T :)

If I understand what you are doing (Sheet Set Manager> Source file for views) you are dragging a saved view back into the same file containing said view.

I suggest you start a new drawing from your DWT, and add that to the sheet set, then drag the view into that file and see how that behaves.

You may need to add the dimension/notes to the modelspace object, then remove the view on your sheet and drag it back on there to see you changes.

I found this from a Microstation/J discussion:

Note attaching a saved view is like moving, scaling, and clipping at one time.
Note it attaches by the views center. The clipping is the extent of the view
set when it was last created.
Note updating the saved view in the origin file does nothing to update the
resultant attachments. (though would be nice.)

So it might seem that this feature isn't available?

Also notes that the 'update' function doesn't work well.  Not sure if that is the actual command or where it is located.

Oh no... looks like what would've taken me a couple of hours in AutoCAD is going to take me MUCH longer. :(

Thanks for looking.
