vla-offset problem
« on: December 13, 2006, 04:11:36 AM »
I am using autocad map 2004 and encounter a problem when I use the function vla-offset. after calling the function it translate the original object to some place else. what have I done wrong?
I enclose a zip file containing some bmp images depicting the problem and the dwg file. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

Can you quantify the valu of the displacement ?

It seems like I have a problem like this with 0.5 millimeter on a drawing of stairs that I draw scale 1:1.
But I'm not sure and didn't pay so much attention, maybe I should.
I would like to know if there is a constant somewhere in your problem. If ever I had the same problem, I could tell you that there is a kind of constancy( if the word exists).

I can't quantify the shift. It seems that the original object is shifted close to 0,0,0 coordinate. Is there any system variables that have to be set before using the vla-offset function?
Further assistance is much appreciated.

The only variable I know to be related would be OFFSETGAPTYPE on 2004.

In your pics it looks like you issue a copy command on something, could that be affecting it? I just tried this in 2006 and it works as it should with your drawing.....

I tried in autocad 2002 and do not have the problem. So I wonder if this is specific only to r2004.
And Jeff, the copy command you saw on the pic is actually the text which I copied.

I didn't think the copy had anything to do with it, had to ask though. I know that 2004 had some other little "quirks", it's possible this is one......I never used 2004 and don't have it available to check here.
