Does anybody know how to programatically toggle this setting in a drawing? I can't find any info on what controls it other than the units dialog box.

You could put it on a palette and in the properties tell it to scale to dimscale, then set the dimscale before insertion.

I don't want to have to have any kind of user intervention - I simply want to be able to turn this option on and off from inside a routine to stop the metric/imperial conversion process when it isn't required.

I've just found that using (command "-aecdwgsetup".......) will enable me to do this.
