A tutorial that introduces a basic EXPRESSION in a point lable.

The user wanted to show elevations in MM which is a non-standard format for Civil 3D to display the values in.

A tutorial that produces a pretty complex Assembly.

The tools that are used are the basic Generic Links, the end result is a fairly complex Assembly
without use of the Sub-Assembly composer.  I chose this route as not all have access to that other tool.

Take a look at what you can do with a Couple of Generic Pavement Sections, some Link Widths and Slopes,
and some Marked Points!

A tutorial that shows two ways to create a Cut/fill benched embankment.

One solution is fairly simple.

The other puts a Conditional assembly to good use. And I try to explain that the conditional assemblies are
used much like a(n) IF>>THEN statement in programing, and that their layout parameters are just for graphical purposes.

I would LOVE it if we could apply some sort of visual style to our Assemblies, so that they look like a "Typcial Section" in a plan set.  Then we could just put our Assembly in a paperspace viewport, and have a "Typical Section".  But because we get this funky "layout parameters for graphical purposes" garbage (and because the distances are not auto-dimensioned in a plan-readable fashion), that isn't possible.  Too bad.  Maybe something for the "wish list", for any Autodesk lurkers out there.

One can get close to what you are after using Code Sets on a Section View....

Although I know absolutely that isn't the same as what you are after.

And in order of Importance...I'd like to see integrated Hydrology tools, and MAP functionality with C3D objects far ahead of this.

MAP functionality with C3D objects

Unfortunately, doesn't seem to be on Autodesk's radar.  And I know when I've mentioned this in personal communications with people like Peter Funk, I get stony silence as a response.  If anything, they seem to be working toward making C3D and Map LESS compatible with each other.

I guess it's more important to ready the REVIT version of whatever Civil product to be named later that they will force on us, just as Civil 3D actually becomes both Stable and Usable.

I've seen posts on places like LinkedIn where people seem to think that Revit Civil will be replacing Civil 3D.  But that's probably idiocy on the part of people who are posting to LinkedIn.

Well anyway... to get back to the "Mini-Tutorial" theme of this thread...

This video on F2F in C3D has been getting a huge number of hits ever since I posted it...  Seems to have struck a nerve.  :)

So here's a link to it:

Revit Civil is a pipe dream for Revit users. Revit clearly lacks Civil 3D tools and functionality. The day it replaces Civil 3D is many many moons away. People shouldn't take that comment as anything but an opinion. Great video thanks for sharing.

sinc. Awesome.  Thanks for the informative survey vid. It's something I haven't had much opportunity to use, but am now needing.

I was asked to singlehandedly design Civil for Revit, or rather bump it's functionality. I did some hunting round the wishlists and I found THIS. Which I now liberally chuck at people to shut them up.  :pissed:
