I insert, but can't see it
« on: August 30, 2006, 09:43:42 AM »
Hi folks,

I'm working in ACAD r14. I insert a dwg into another dwg but it doesn't
show on my screen, in either paper space or model space. How come?
This is the first time I ever had this problem. I checked all the layers to make
sure they were on and thawed. Ant ideas?

thanks,

vinnyg

How exactly did you insert it?

Is it possible the active viewport, assuming modelspace, has an active clip?

Is it possible the source drawing is comprised of custom entities that go proxy (formely zomby) on ya?

Failing all the above zip post the suspects (tho I cannot D/L from here) so the crew can view.

etc.

Are you inserting this dwg into a new or existing drawing?
Could the block (dwg) already exist and/or be redefined in the current drawing?
Sorry to ask this but, have you checked all the obvious things such as layers, scale, etc...

Don't have time to post my drawings. Checked everything each
one of you asked about. Was trying to insert drawing into an
existing drawing. Anyway, I worked around it by using copy and
paste.....seemed to work ok. Thanks for your help

Glad you got it figured out.  *guess* It sounds like the drawing you were inserting had the linework in paperspace *guess*

Im guessing you tried to insert a dwg that was created in PS, which you cannot do.  B/C you were able to copy paste, the dwg wasn't corrupt.

I didn't check to see if it was created in PS. When I get time,
I'll do that just for my own satisfaction.

thanks,
